It’s officially the month of love – happy February everyone! Today’s Valentine’s Day gift guide is for those of us who are on a bit more of a budget. February always seems to be such an incredibly busy and expensive month for Dan and I and so we usually decide on a budget for Valentine’s Day gifts – once I made the grand announcement that the gifts should be homemade, I regretted that in a very big way! More economical gifts don’t have to be boring or disappointing, keep reading for some ideas…
First up are some ideas for her:
Woolworths Metallic Heart Planter (R140) – This is a perfect gift for someone that loves to decorate their home. The gold heart gives the cement planter a feminine touch and I really can’t imagine a potted plant that wouldn’t look gorgeous housed in this planter.
Woolworths Travel Mug (R140) – Look, even though I have about 54 travel mugs, I can never resist the urge to pick up another one, especially if it’s as cute as this one. If you’re on the lookout for a gift for a lady on the run, this is it!Essence “Valentines – Who Cares” Liquid Lipsticks (R47,95) Clicks and Dischem – This collection from Essence has received rave reviews and these liquid lipsticks in particular look like sure fire winners. There’s a full review on them on Lipgloss Kisses that you can read over here. Super affordable and super pigmented – these baby’s ticks all the boxes. The two pictured below are in 01 Crew Love Is True Love (left) and 02 I’m Not Into Roses (right).LUSH Price Charming Shower Gel (R85 for 100g) – If these ingredients don’t appeal to you, I don’t know what will: marshmellow root, Fair Trade vanilla, pomegranate juice, grapefruit, sandlewood and geranium oil. Hell, why not pick one of these shower gels for yourself while you’re at it. Remember, if you don’t have a LUSH store near you, you can shop to your hearts desire (in your pajamas with crazy unbrushed hair) online over here.
H&M Scented Candle in Sea Breeze (R149) – I don’t think I know a woman who doesn’t love scented candles. Whether they are used to freshen up the lounge, aid relaxation when you have a long soak in the tub or just add that extra bit of something to a shelf; they are definitely one of the best gifts to receive. And now for him:
Woolworths Chuckles Melted Puffs (R99 for 220g) – There is just something about Chuckles, once you start, you literally cannot stop eating them. I think any man would be chuffed to receive this tin of deliciousness, and you know what they say – the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach…Rosetta Roastery Coffee Beans – Gaitana Columbia (R129 for 250g) from Yuppiechef – If the man you’re on a gift hunt for is a coffee snob then these medium roast coffee beans from Rosetta Rosatery will be right up his ally. With a touch of caramel notes, you will probably find yourself asking him to make you a cup of Joe as well!Le Creuset Cappuccino Mug 200ml (R150) Yuppiechef – Why not add a snazzy mug to go with his fancy new coffee? Le Creuset cappuccino mugs are definitely a favourite of ours at home: they are the perfect size and come in a bunch of different colours. A great thing about shopping with Yuppiechef is that you can spend or earn eBucks and did you know you can also earn Pick ‘n Pay Smart Shopper points now too? Score! The Body Shop Arber After Shave Balm (R150) – This would be a great addition to any man’s shaving arsenal. The skin is left smooth, moisturised and lightly scented after use. The Arber fragrance has top notes of orange, lime and geranium; middle notes of mint and watermelon and base notes of sandlewood, tonka bean and vetiver.Style Republic Billfold Wallet (R79) Spree – A classic billfold wallet with enough interior pockets to keep all his change and other essentials safe and sound. What more does a man need in a wallet?
