When I think of a classic make up look, my mind immediatly goes to a beautiful, bold red lip. Recently I have become more comfortable with wearing colour on my lips, especially red, and so I thought that I would share my favourites, one for every kind of budget!
SAVE – Essence Long Lasting Lipstick 02 All You Need Is Red (R46,95 at Dischem): For a budget beauty brand, Essence hits the nail on the head, often. All You Need Is Red is a wonderfully creamy lipstick with a slight sheen to it. The colour itself has a very slight orange undertone and stays put on my lips for a good 4 hours. In terms of pigmentation, I do find that I need two coats to create the desired intensity. Other than that, I don’t think you can beat this lippie in this price range. Well done Essence!
SPEND – Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Colour Love (R150 at Dischem): There was such a huge hype when these launched a few months ago, and for good reason. The Ultra HD Matte Lip Colours are like a liquid lipstick, lip balm, lipgloss hybrid. They are ridiculously comfortable on the lips and long lasting – a good 6 hours! Love is a coral-y red that delivers great, semi-matte pigmentation with just one swipe. Oh, did I mention that they smell amazing…
SPLURGE – Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet 57 Rouge Feu (R610 selected Red Square stores): Chanel really came to the party when they launched this beautiful matte lipstick. The formulation is creamy, comfortable, lightweight and really packs a punch in terms of pigmentation. As mentioned in this post, Rouge Feu literally lasted all afternoon and night on my lips without a single touch up. A definite splurge, but completely worth it in my books.
What is your favourite red lipstick? Let me know in the comments!
PS: Is it just me or does this post look a bit Christmas-y? Man I can’t wait for the festive season to begin!
