This tutorial is so overdue, Cara Fay asked me ages ago to do it, and here I am finally getting around to it!
I originally did this nail look with a pink-brown nude and gold glitter which looked super pretty but I decided to change things up a bit for this tutorial, and I really like how the blue and silver glitter worked out!
After you’ve filed your nails into the shape that you are happy with, make sure to give them a wipe down with nail polish remover to remove any excess oil. This will ensure that your manicure lasts as long as possible. Ok, let’s get into how to create this look…
Glitter Halfmoon Manicure
1. I always use my Essence The Gel Base Coat. It does a fab job and really protects my nails from getting stained.
2. Next up, paint two coats of a solid color of your choice. I went with Essence The Gel 63 Itsy Bitsy Blue Bikini.
3. Now comes the sort of tricky part. With your glitter polish (I used Essence I Love Trends 06 Sparkles In A Bottle), create a half moon at the base of the nail bed.
I have found that the easiest way to do this is by dotting your brush in the half moon shape from the one bottom corner to the other and then just filling in the gaps.
Depending on the polish you are using, and how transparent you want your half moons to be, you can do one or two coats.
4. If there is some paint on your cuticles or around your nail bed, just use an ear bud and some nail polish remover to neaten it all up.
5. Pop on a top coat to give your manicure that extra glossy look and to keep it chip free for longer. My favourite is the Essence The Gel Top Coat.
And there you have it, your glitter half moon manicure is done! If you decide to recreate this look, please pop a picture on social media and tag me, I would love to see!
