I’m a skincare magpie, it’s all bright, shiny and I cannot wait to get my hands onto something new! And that’s what BiomeRenew is, a brand new offering, proudly made in South Africa.
The first thing you’ll want to know about BiomeRenew is what sets it apart from other skincare brands; it’s Africa’s first skincare brand formulated with Post-Biotics which helps to restore the skins micro flora. This dermatologist and surgeon developed skincare line’s bottom line is to focus on improving your skin by ensuring a healthy skin microbiome.
Before we delve into the BiomeRenew products, let’s have a quick chat about what the skin’s microbiome is and how it effects our skin health.
the skin’s microbiome
In a nutshell, it’s a community of good microorganisms on the skin, very similar to how you have a gut microbiome which affects your overall health. If your skin microbiome is unbalanced, you may experience acne, eczema, rosacea, sensitivity and ageing.
To help relieve symptoms of these conditions, BiomeRenew’s product focus on enhancing the skin’s microbiome while also nourishing and protecting the skin.

BiomeRenew product line
The product line is simple and not at all complicated, something that I really appreciate. As much as I’d love to be able to have a long, lengthy skincare regime, in this phase of my life it’s just not possible. That said though, I still want the results, just without the faff and I’ve found that BiomeRenew does just that.
I’m sure that many of us can agree that facing a new skincare line can be a bit daunting, even if the line is simple, it can be tricky to know exactly what your skin needs.
A very helpful tool on the BiomeRenew website is the AI Skin Analysis. The program scans your skin and evaluates over 15 key skin metrics, it then creates a bespoke skincare plan for you, complete with product recommendations as well as lifestyle guidelines to assist you.
You can even scan your skin every few weeks or so to track your progress, super handy!
Postbiotic Serum
What I really enjoyed about the Postbiotic Serum is that it’s incredibly light and doesn’t dry down to a sticky feeling. I’ve been using it daily under my moisturizer and I definitely think it’s one of the main reasons my skin is looking less red and feeling more plump.
In terms of what it targets, it’s pretty much full spectrum. Lactosporin assists with microbiome balance, niacinamide helps to brighten the skin and of course hyaluronic acid helps to deeply hydrate the skin.
Postbiotic Facial Cleanser
Oh how I love a gel cleanser! Except my (very slightly) maturing skin does not, which is why I tend to be pretty picky with the ones that I choose.
I’m happy to report that my skin doesn’t feel tight or stripped after using the Postbiotic Facial Cleanser from BiomeRenew, it feels gently cleansed, and make up get removed easily.
In terms of consistency, it’s a thicker gel than I’m used to but that’s not off-putting at all and I feel that I actually use less product this way.
If you’re an ingredient junkie you’ll be excited to know that this cleanser contains salicylic acid for a really deep cleanse, this is in conjunction with it’s other star ingredients of Lactosporun, a ceramide complex and niacinamide.
Postbiotic Daily Moisturiser
Now that the weather is warming up, I like the moisturiser I wear during the day to be on the lightweight side, and this BiomeRenew product is perfect for this.
The Postbiotic Daily Moisturiser is water-based but still incredibly hydrating without feeling oily. It’s a yes from me, this may be my favourite product out of the lot.
Postbiotic Enriched Cream
In tems of evenings, I’ve been enjoying the Postbiotic Enriched Cream, I feel like it really nourishes my skin which is exactly what I want in the evening.
Because it helps to rebuild and strengthen the skins barrier, it can be helpful for those with eczema and psoriasis.
Postbiotic Ointment
I’ve been using the Postbiotic Ointment as a spot treatment for areas on my body with really dry skin. It instantly nourishes and helps to heal the skin, so much so that I am going to start using it on Maia’s severe eczema spots when they crop up to see how it works compared to steroid creams.
Something else that BiomeRenew do that I think is fab is that they have bundles available, that work out much more cost effective if you are looking to invest in a full routine.
All in all, I think that these products are really effective and at their price point, really something to consider if you’re looking to change up your skincare products or add to your regime.
