easy nail art with Essence nail polishes

Look, I’m no nail art pro, but I’m pretty impressed with myself for pulling this look off. It’s easy to do, it looks super pretty and it won’t cost you a fortune! Let’s get cracking…

Before we even get to step one, it’s always a good idea to give your nails a good wipe with some nail polish remover. This will make sure your nail plate isn’t oily, helping to make your mani last longer.

Easy Nail Art Tutorial

Step 1: First up is a base coat to help eliminate staining of the nail plate. I am all about the Essence The Gel Polish Base Coat. Together with the Top Coat, they make my manicure last so much longer without chipping or peeling. Pop on a thin layer that covers your entire nail plate.

Step 2: This is where we are going to paint our base colour. I chose Essence The Gel Polish 05 Sweet As Candy, it’s such a pretty, soft, girl pink.

Paint two thin layers over your entire nail. Don’t pile on the polish and make it thick, otherwise, it will never dry and you will end up with big fat smudges.

Step 3: Very important – make sure your nails are completely, 100% dry before applying the tape. So go have a snack, watch some series and make a cup of coffee. Rather give it too much time than too little.

Once your nails are dry, stick on a piece of masking tape in a diagonal direction, the uncovered part will be where your second colour goes.

Step 4: I chose Essence The Gel Polish 44 On Air! as my second colour – I do love some glitter! Paint two thin coats in the uncovered space. If you paint over the tape a little bit, you get a much more even line. Wait about 30 seconds and then peel off the tape slowly and carefully.

Step 5: I love the Essence The Gel Polish Top Coat as much as I love the Base Coat! My nails look so glossy with a coat of this on them. And that’s exactly what the last step is – to paint a thin coat of top coat.

And voila! I would love to see all the different  colour combinations that you come up with so please share your pictures and don’t forget to tag me on social media when you do (all my links are at the top right of this page.)
