New From Chanel

There is just something so irresistibly wonderful about a luxury product. It’s probably the packaging that draws me in most of the time and Chanel is no exception. I have long been a fan of this sophisticated make up brand and so you can imagine my delight when a little something from Chanel was delivered to me a few weeks ago.

The new Le Rouge collection from Chanel launched in August and it is a show stopper of note! Inspired by the colour red, this is how Lucia Pica (the Chanel Global Creative Makeup and Colour Designer) describes the Le Rouge collection: “In LE ROUGE · COLLECTION N°1, there are also ideas of subversion and classicism. It is about the power of femininity, but also the vulnerability. Red is intense, vulnerable, sexual and eternal. I really wanted to explore the meaning of colour and what is behind it in the collection. There is an idea of the symbolism of red and a red undertone runs throughout. It is mainly an emotional and abstract response to colour.”

I was absolutely thrilled to be sent a few of the Le Rouge products to try, and let me tell you, they did not disappoint!

Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour 528 Rouge Puissant (R450): Who doesn’t love beautifully manicured nails with a splash of red on them? I am definitely a fan! The formula of this polish is smooth and applies like silk onto the nail to leave a bright, post box red colour. I tried to get away with just one coat, but you do need two coats to leave a good solid finish. In saying that though, the colour lasted a full five days on my fingernails before it started to chip which is really good going seeing that I am always busy with my hands.

Le Stylo Yeus Waterproof 929 Agape (R450): Generally I steer more towards liquid liner, I find that it stays in place a lot better and creates more of a statement and so I was hesitant to try this chocolate brown liner. I’ve worn it two ways and I am happy to report it works like a dream. The first way I like to wear it is as a traditional liner on my top lid as well as my waterline. This baby does not budge! Really, it lasted on my eyes for a good five hours before I noticed it had faded on my waterline. Usually liners last for about two hours on my waterline so I was really impressed. The second, and my favourite way of wearing the Stylo Yeus is to scribble a bit of it on my lid and then blend it out with a fluffy brush. This gives a beautiful brown wash of colour that looks beautiful paired with a look lick of mascara.

Rouge Allure Velvet 57 Rouge Feu (R610): I have never loved a lipstick like I love this one. Oh. My. Word. It delivers an intense red colour in a matte finish that literally lasts until you remove it. I thought that I would really put this lippie to the test and wore it to an event where I was eating, drinking and chatting up a storm. By the time I was getting ready for bed that night, 6 hours later, my lipstick was still perfect. Yes, R610 is a bit steep for a lipstick but by the way this product performs, I think it is completely worth it. In fact, I am going to buy a lovely nude in this colour as soon as I can.

This next product is not part of the Le Rouge collection but is well worth the mention because I have fallen head over heels in love with it.

Le Teint Ultra Tenue Foundation 20 Beige (R900): I have always loved Vitalumiere but that has taken second place with this new launch. This leaves a matte finish and feels incredibly light on the skin, almost like you aren’t wearing foundation at all. It doesn’t oxidise on my skin and is extremely long wearing. I find the best way to apply this is with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush. To give a more sheer coverage I only need one pump but if I want to really build it up, two pumps is more than enough.
