Why you absolutely need the Neutrogena Hydro Boost products in your life

We live in an environment full of pollutants, and over and above that, everything is rushed, manic and there are very few instances where we aren’t completely stress free.

Something that we don’t often think about is how our environment and stress levels negatively impacts our skin; not only can they cause breakouts but are also a leading cause of premature aging.

While skincare can’t do much for your stress levels or control the pollutants around you, it can help to protect your barrier layer to prevent flare ups, as well as hydrate the skin to keep it looking supple. The Neutrogena Hydro Boost products are geared to do exactly that, and the good news is that they don’t cost a bomb either!

The Hydro Boost range has two main functions, both of which are fab for the skin.

The first is that the hyaluronic acid creates a hydration reservoir so that your skin can be hydrated as and when it needs to be, throughout the day. This means that your skin will look wonderfully plump and won’t start to feel tight and dehydrated towards the end of the day.

Barrier CareTM Cleansing technology is the technology that helps with the second function of Hydro Boost, which is to protect the skin’s barrier. Many of us damage the protective function of the skin by using stripping cleansers or other harsh products, this leads to skin sensitivity and further dehydration.

Barrier CareTM combined with hyaloronic acid, locks hydration into the skin, preventing evaporation while also preventing anything that could disrupt the skin’s barrier function.

The original 5 products from the Hydro Boost range were launched last year and I absolutely loved them, in case you missed me raving about them, here’s a quick recap.

Water Gel Cleanser (RSP R100.00): How many times have you heard me bang on about this product? It cleanses without stripping, removes all my make up with ease and like the rest of this range, is super affordable.

Micellar Water (RSP R100.00): If you’re a fan of a good cleansing water, you’ll be happy to know that this one is also suitable for sensitive skin.

Facial Wipes (RSP R100.00): While I don’t use them every single day, facial wipes do come in handy. These ones from the Neutrogena Hydro Boost range are some of the softest that I have used, which makes them really comfortable to use over the eye area.

Water Gel (RSP R140.00): This is one of the most fab hydrating day creams that I have used to date and is absolutely right up there with some of the high end moisturisers that I have tried. It is incredibly lightweight and sinks into the skin like a dream.

Gel Cream (RSP R140.00): As good as the Water Gel, this Hydro Boost moisturiser is just slightly thicker and perfect to use if you prefer something light at night, or for the winter months when you need something just slightly more intense

Just a few weeks ago, Neutrogena introduced three new products to the Hydro Boost range that specifically work to counteract the negative effects that both pollutants and stress have on our skin, while still delivering all the hydration that you skin needs throughout the day.

City Shield Hydrating Lotion SPF 25 (RSP R139.95): This has become my go to moisturiser over the last few weeks, it really is fantastic. I love that it’s so lightweight, even though it has a decent SPF factor in it, and the lotion sinks into my skin so quickly leaving no sticky residue. Packed with antioxidants and the HelioplexTM technology to help build  hydration reservoirs and photostable SPF 25, this moisturiser is too good not to try!

Eye-Awakening Eye-Cream (RSP R139.95): Although I love all of the new Hydro Boost products, I think that this may be my favourite and is possibly the most hydrating and refreshing eye cream that I have ever used. On application, the gel-cream consistency is cooling which really helps with my puffiness in the morning and I honestly do find that it has quite a blurring effect on my under eye area. I have also found that when I use this specific eye cream, my concealer and powder looks so much smoother and natural than it normally does. You cannot afford not to have this in your morning routine.

Smoothing Exfoliator Gel (RSP R99.95): You all know that I love a good exfoliator, there really isn’t anything better and my skin always feels so fresh and clean after a good scrub session. This one from the Hydro Boost line is a new fave with its naturally derived microbeads, hyaluronic acid and cleansing technology, it does everything that I need and more! If you have a more sensitive skin, I’m pretty confident that you will be just fine using the Smoothing Exfoliator Gel once, maybe even twice a week, just be gentle with your application. I’ve been loving it so much that I often use it 4 times a week, it really just gets rid of that tired, dull look.

I’m clearly a fan of the Hydro Boost range and it’s not often that I find a range where I enjoy every single one of the products.
