Guys, is there anything better than falling into wonderfully crisp linen at the end of the day? It really is amazing, I totally get it now. See, before this mini bedroom makeover, our linen was a bit of a disaster, a kind of “nice from far, but far from nice” scenario. It all looked okay if you were peering in from the passage, but when you got up close and personal, you would nod your head in agreement with me; it was high time that it all got replaced.
Over the past two years or so, we’ve spent most of our energy and resources on the other areas of the home; we painted the exterior, and the interior, we redid Aria’s big girl room and we gave Maia’s room a face lift as well. Sure, we pulled up the gross carpets in our room but that’s about it. And it shows. Our room looked tired and neglected and wasn’t at all the kind of space that felt inviting after a long day of work and parenting.
Let’s have a look at the before picture; you can see the the white linen is slightly yellow (how do you keep your whites white?!), the continental cushions were quite faded and the extra blanket really wasn’t doing us any aesthetic favours. When we got married we made sure that we bought a really good duvet and pillows and those are still serving us well which goes to show, you get what you pay for when it comes to these sort of things. Granny Goose has a really great selection of duvets (which are 20% off until 30 April) and pillows, so if you’re in the market for something new, definitely have a look there. But back to our “before” picture, basically all the linen needed to be upgraded and with linen that would stand the test of time… and toddlers!
I love plain white linen but Dan and I decided to add a little bit of colour into our new linen. Now if you know me well, you’ll know that grey is about as colourful as I get and so I was thrilled when I saw the Beach House range. The quality of the linen is right up there with the best; 200 thread count 100% cotton percale and there are also blue and coffee toned variations but I went with grey and I am thrilled with how it looks. It definitely adds a little something extra having those stripes on the duvet cover and pillow cases. If you’re looking for something a little more cozy seeing as it’s winter, then I would definitely suggest the Soft Touch range, I love the striped duvet set.
Next up were our continental pillows that had definitely seen better days, they were a bit bleached from the sun and the colour was too much of a blue-grey than actual grey. They also wern’t a great fabric, we have dogs and even though they aren’t allowed on the beds (or couches), their fluffy hair still gets everywhere and the fabric of the continental pillow covers just seemed to attract all of it! We chose to get two new continental pillows which I’m so glad we did as the Granny Goose ones are just so puffy and really seem to keep their shape well, and then opted for classic white pillow cases as we already had a pop of “colour” from the grey stripe of the Beach House pillow cases and duvet cover.
The last item that needed to be addressed was our extra blanket. Winter is most definitely creeping in and Dan and I have been using an extra blanket almost every night! You’ll remember me chatting about Maia’s Granny Goose blanket over here on my Instagram, and now we have an adult sized version and it’s heavenly! Our knitted blanket is so luxurious and so warm! It’s actually living on the couch right now because that’s where I do majority of my work and it’s so perfect to keep me all cozy and warm.
Granny Goose decided that our mini bedroom makeover was not complete without a finishing touch of their Signature Candles. The cotton flower fragrance is a wonderfully clean scent that is quite unisex, a big plus around these parts. The scent isn’t overwhelming at all, it just gives a subtle fragrance to the room and creates a lovely ambiance. This would make a great gift for a housewarming or as part of a wedding gift.
It’s amazing what a huge difference just changing out the linen has made to our bedroom. If you’re looking to do a bit of an overhaul in your own bedroom, definitely give the Granny Goose website a browse, they have some really gorgeous options and the quality is right up there with the best. Plus, you can shop online, woohoo!
