If there’s a viral make up product, and it’s available in South Africa, you can bet your bottom dollar that I’ll go and hunt it down! And that’s exactly what I did for the Loreal Telescopic Lift mascara.
I saw it in so many TikToks, and it looked incredible. When Irina told me that it had finally hit South African shores, I sped down to Dischem faster than you can say “viral mascara”.
It currently retails for R249,00 which is pretty much on par with other drugstore mascaras. You just need to be careful when buying it, there are a ton of Telescopic mascaras, you’re going to want the Telescopic Lift mascara. Nothing worse than trekking back to the shop to exchange a (unopened) product. So just double check you’re getting the right one.
What makes the Loreal Telescopic Lift Mascara different?
The Telescopic Lift mascara promises instant lift, volume, and up to +5mm visible length. These are all largely due to their brand new, patented double hook bristle brush. It grabs, coats, lifts and separates the lashes. The key to getting this right is to apply your mascara in two steps.
How to correctly apply Loreal Telescopic Lift Mascara
First, use the front hook bristles to lift and coat the lashes. Then turn the brush to its side and use the side hook bristles to separate the lashes. I also found that it helped if I wiped the excess off the brush before applying, this ensured that I didn’t get a super clumpy look.
My Experience
I’ve been using the Loreal Telescopic Lift mascara for about a week now and honestly, I am obsessed. I’m all about dramatic lashes so I usually apply two coats but one truly does make a massive difference as well.
In terms of transferring to the skin, there is a little of that, but to be honest I just expect mascara to transfer to my skin; my lashes are long and my eyelids are oily, it’s the perfect storm.
To help prevent transfer, I use some pressed powder on my lids as well as underneath my eyes. The one that I’m using at the moment is the Loreal Infallible Foundation in a Powder, it gives a bit more coverage than a normal pressed powder and works like a bomb.
If you’ve watched this reel then you’ll know what an incredible difference the Telescopic Lift mascara makes with just one coat. It really is amazing.
The Loreal Telescopic Lift mascara lengthens my lashes unlike any other mascara that I’ve used (and I’ve used many) and the added volume has meant that I’m using a liquid liner less during the day as it really adds some amazing definition at the base of the lashes.
How to remove Loreal Telescopic Lift mascara
Removing a long-wearing mascara can sometimes be a bit of a pain, and the Telescopic Lift is no exception, it really does coat and stick to your lashes.
To make your life easier, make sure that you have an oil based cleanser. You can also used an oil based make up remover but I find a cleansing balm or cleansing oil works best as you can really (gently) massage it into your lashes to make sure that you remove all the residue.
