Another month has come and gone, hopefully, August is the last of the chilly mornings and evenings! There were quite a few things that I gravitated towards during July, so keep on reading…
A few weeks ago I received a lovely delivery compliments of Africology, they had sent me their Renewal Facial Therapy Serum (R690). This product is aimed at those that want to inject a powerful anti ageing force into their skincare regime.
Africology claims that your skin will look more plump, revitalized and firm after using this product consistently for a few weeks. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a little bit too strong for me and so I exchanged it for the Rose Absolute Serum (R500) which is perfect for those that struggle with hormonal breakouts, sensitivity and dehydration, my skin in a nutshell.
I don’t want to give away too much because I am going to do a full review of this product next week or so but I can tell you this – it smells amazing, it feels amazing and my skin is in love with it. At first I really battled with the concept of putting a serum with an oil consistency onto my skin but after a few times I was pretty much addicted.
I have been using this every single night for about 3 weeks now and I can tell you that it is going to become a staple in my skincare regime. The rose scent is so relaxing and my skin feels so moisturised and comforted after using it. When I wake up in the morning it is still silky smooth. I was pretty sad that I couldn’t use the Renewal Facial Therapy Serum as it sounded amazing. If you’re interested in treating yourself to a bottle, August is the month to do it in – Africology will be donating 50% of all proceeds to Babies Behind Bars. This is a non-profit organization that assists women in prison that give birth during their sentence. Just a note, this is only for the Renewal Facial Serum. You can order Africology online over here.
I’ve been wearing two lipsticks pretty much all month: MAC Mineralize Rich Lipstick in Dreaminess (R275 from MAC) and Essence 03 Come Naturally (R37 at Dischem). Both of them are beautifully subtle and are perfect to wear during the day. I find that they are still fairly natural looking but just add a bit of emphasis and oomph to your lips. They are both lovely and creamy in texture and so they won’t settle into the lines in your lips, if like me, your lips are always dehydrated and chapped. The wear time isn’t the best I’ve ever had, about 3 hours, but its not terrible either.
A cucumber smelling mascara? Yip, I was sceptical at first as well, but it definitely has a cucumber-y scent to it! The Rimmel Wonder’Full Wake Me Up Mascara (R130 at Dischem) is supposed to do just that: make your eyes look all bright eyed and alert thanks to the cucumber extract. Now I don’t know if it does exactly that, but what I know for sure is that it lengthens and separates my lashes and coats them in a super black pigment. It didn’t clump and it definitely didn’t smudge. I really like the brush, its silicone and because of its shape, it hugs and coats every single lash. This mascara is also builds like a dream, so you can have natural whispy lashes, or full on glam, just by adding a few extra coats. Worthy of a repurchase in my books.
While we are on the topic of good smelling things, let’s talk perfume. Now this isn’t something that I chat about often but I just have to mention Elie Saab L’Eau Couture (R620 for 30ml/ R845 for 50ml/ R1115 for 90ml at Red Square). I have the original Elie Saab perfume that I love, it’s possibly my favourite out of my collection. I received a little sample of L’Eau Couture in a goodie bag from an event I attended and boy have I made it last! It smells fresh, feminine and very summery and immediately makes me feel like I want to be super friendly to everyone that I meet. Is it weird that a fragrance has that effect on me? With top notes of bergamont from Calabria and magnolia, heart notes of orange blossom and jasmine, and base notes of green almond and vanilla, I’m pretty sure you will believe me when I tell you that this scent is completely addictive. I think I have about one application left and I am saving it up for time that is worthy of its amazing scent. This is on my Christmas list for sure!
Okay, okay, I know that this isn’t a make-up or skincare product but Gossip Girl has been my addiction this month. The Blair and Chuck love story will never get old, that limo scene gets me every single time! And I love the Sum 41 song that plays during it as well. All the drama just keeps me glued to the screen, Rufus and Lily: will they, won’t they, sometimes its just too much to handle and I need to take a tea break. Oh don’t get me started on the fashion, make up and hair, it’s a wonder that my heart doesn’t beat right out of my chest! Dan gave me the box set for my birthday this year and so I am loving going through it all again. Next on my list is Pretty Little Liars (thanks Chicara) and then I think The Mindy Project, I loved her in The Office so I’m hoping her own show will be just as good.
And that’s a wrap on July, come on August, I’m ready for you!
That essence lipstick has my name written all over it! I love the new nudes range from essence!
Im on a mission to find a new serum, this one is definitely going on the list!
I love it! Hmmm…maybe I should do a post on some of my favourite serums *brain starts to work*
Yes please do 🙂
