The year is flying by at rapid speed, can you believe we’re already in June?! In case life has been getting away from you (‘cos same, it’s been wild), Father’s Day is next weekend!
My favorite thing about these days is that it gives you license to be a little bit fun, corny, and quirky… which I think this Father’s Day gift idea is!
I saw a similar idea years ago on Pinterest and decided this year is the year I bring it to life, along with some printables.

Father’s Day ‘Toolbox’ Gift
This is such a fun idea for Dad because you can really tailor make it to him and everything he loves.
So for Dan, besides the sweets, LEGO and something to do with our dogs was the obvious choice.
The Father’s Day gift tags really add another layer of love and of course, it ties in perfectly with everything being in a toolbox.
Here’s what you will need:
- A tool box: I used this one from Westpack
- An assortment of sweets: I used a different type of loose sweet for each little compartment at the top and then a bag of caramel popcorn, a bag of biltong and a bag of nuts for the bottom section.
- A few other bits and pieces: There are 5 gift tags in the printables set, so I just added two more things so that I could use all of the tags. I went with a small lego set and some pug socks.
- This is totally optional, you can simply add more snacks if you’d prefer.
Now you assemble everything, this reel gives the best direction but basically all you need to do is pop the loose sweets into the different compartments and then secure the tags to the remainder of the treats.
I simply punched a hole in the corner, added a loop of thin rope, and then taped it to the different packets.
Finally, tie the main tag saying “Happy Father’s Day” to the handle of the toolbox. You can do this the same way as you did with the other tags, I just chose to use a ribbon.
And that’s it! Such an easy gift to put together and you can really decide how much you’d like to spend on it.
If you’d like to add another personalized element to it, what about these “All About My Dad” sheets that your kids can fill in. They’re such a lovely keepsake and the kids honestly always makes it fun!
As always, I hope that this blog post inspires you and remember to tag me if you put one of these together!
