Crabtree & Evelyn, making Mother’s Day easy

I remember the first time that I fell in love with Crabtree & Evelyn; I was about 20 and thought that it was an “old lady’s store”. My wonderful friend introduced me to the India Hicks, now Caribbean Island Wild Flowers range. It is the most intoxicating aroma of spider lily, night blooming jasmine and sea air accords that makes you feel like you’re on luxurious, tropical holiday. To this day, it is my all time favourite collection from Crabtree & Evelyn.

Over the past few months, Crabtree & Evelyn has undergone a little bit of a make over; new products with a new look and a new tea room, and they are all perfect for Mother’s Day.

The Tea Room, located at The Design Quarter is just gorgeous with it’s both eclectic and antique decor, exqisite herbal infusions and absolutely delicious food. I was lucky enough to sample some of the tea time treats that they serve and let me tell you, go with an empty stomach because you will be rolling out of there; scones with jam and cream, preserves and marmalade, biscuits, cookies and cake, it really is an absolute feast. If this sounds like something you’d like to treat your mom to, make sure to read all the way to the end of this post…

Onto some products… Although they aren’t brand new, I’ve been using two products from Crabtree & Evelyn and I just cannot rave about them enough! The Pear & Pink Magnolia Body Wash is pure magic, and can be used a wash as well as a bubble bath. The fragrance is really uplifting thanks to the fresh magnolias but the lush pear softens it and so I still use it when I have a soak in the tub before I hop into bed.

The second product I’ve been trying out is the Citron & Coriander Body Sorbet, if you don’t like heavy body lotions, but still need hydration, this one is for you! This is definitely a more morning product, the citrus scent really helps to knock that last bit of sleepiness out of my system. What I like the most about this product though is the texture, it’s almost jelly like but still creamy and feels incredibly light on the skin and sinks in almost immediately, leaving no stickiness at all. This is probably my favourite body product at the moment to be honest, and would make an incredible gift.

You’ll notice that Crabtree & Evelyn have changed their packaging slightly to make it look a but more modern, and along with that, they have also launched some new products which is really exciting!

Lavender & Espresso range to calm: lavender & cypress oils from France, citron Oil from Italy, patchouli oil from Indonesia, sandalwood oil from Australia and coffee oil.

Rose Water & Pink Peppercorn range to hydrate: rose petals native to the Mediterranean coast, spicy pink peppercorn, bright bergamot, ethically sourced tonka bean and akigalawood, a new natural captive derived from Patchouli.

My absolute favourite new launch though is the Modern British Home fragrance collection. Crabtree & Evelyn have created a specific fragrance for each area of your home, from the entrance hall (Warm Welcome), kitchen (Supper Club) and guest bedroom (Home Comforts). The fragrances come in both candles and diffusers, and are beautifully packaged.

So, do you want to treat your mama? Or perhaps a mama friend? I’m giving away an experience at the Crabtree & Evelyn Tea Room at the Design Quarter for two, to the value of R500.

I adore India Hicks so would love to try her range. Have you read her book, Island Style? It’s stunning! I would also love to try the Moroccan myrrh hair and body wash. Handy to have a two in one! http://crabtree-evelyn.co.za/shop/moroccan-myrrh-hair-body-wash-300ml/
