Black Maxi Dress: three ways

A little black dress is great, but a lovely black maxi dress is even better I think!

I recently purchased a black maxi dress, I just knew that it would become an incredibly versatile item in my wardrobe and I wasn’t wrong! The one that I bought isn’t available anymore but I’ve put together a list and linked 5 similar ones:

1. Dress masito from Mango

2. Ribbed organic knitwear tank dress from Superbalist

3. Plain slip on dress from Pick n Pay Clothing

4. Essential split short sleeve midi dress from Cotton On

5. Relaxed tee dress from Cotton On

I thought I would show you three ways that I wear mine (there are a bunch more but hey, that can be part 2!) and link similar accessories, etc.

The first look is very spring-day-casual, perfect for an outside lunch or picnic. The boater hat was such a staple for me last year and I know it will be again this year. And as for my “carry everything in the world” bag, I don’t leave home without it!

I remember people always telling me that black and brown shouldn’t be worn together but honestly, I feel like when you choose well, they really work and compliment each other, what do you think?

Also, can we have a moment for my favourite heart shaped sunnies, they’re just the best!

1. Boater hat from Pick n Pay Clothing

2. Side ring hobo bag from Woolworths

3. Heart shaped sunglasses from Curatress

4. Tan round pumps from Mr Price

This next look is also a super comfy one (let’s be honest, everything I wear is comfy, no one has time for anything but that) that’s great for coffee with the girls or just running a few errands.

I basically live in my leopard print sneakers, they add such a fun element to any outfit and also… leopard print, amirite? I’ve linked my heart sunnies in the previous look so I thought I would link these oversized ones for this look, they’re just gorge!

1. Denim jacket from Mr Price

2. Kelly tote bag from Superbalist

3. Jaz oversized aviators from Cotton On

4. Era leapard print Vans

The last look is slightly more smart, but still very much wearable, great for a lunch date! In hindsight I should have paired this with black heels, but I do love these little nude ones so I’m not too sorry. I’ll link an option for both because you know what they say; the more, the merrier!

My kaftan is an oldie but a goodie – I wear it to death every summer and in so many different ways, if you’re on the fence about buying one this season, this is your sign to do it!

1. Leaf print cover up from Superbalist

2. Black block heel from Mr Price

3. Slip on block heel from Mr Price

Of course there are so many more ways to wear a simple black dress; you can belt it up, wear a knotted tee over it, a cute cropped jersey, the options really are endless. Let me know in the comments how you would style yours!
