I am by no means a fashion blogger, I’m pretty far off from being fashionable to be honest – I don’t even own a pair of ankle boots (are those still even on trend?!). But I do love a little sparkle and shine, and so when I was sent an invite to attend the launch of Mimco’s new collection, hosted by Glamour magazine, I was all too thrilled.
Glamour really outdid themselves, there were lovely canapés and of course lots of bubbles, my girlfriends and I were in our element! Pnina Fenster and her team were chic as always and we were treated to mini manicures by The Fox Box. But enough about the fluff, let’s get down to what we were all there for: Afriquette, Mimco’s new collection.
You know what makes me like Mimco even more than I initially did? It’s the fact that that they care, to be more specific, they care about women empowerment. Mimco has partnered with The International Trade Centre’s Ethical Fashion Initiative (EFI), an organisation that actively reduces poverty by empowering people in some of the poorest countries through fair work opportunities. Mimco has two pieces that were created by Kenyan artisans. The Afrigraphico tote and the Afrigraphico pouch (both below).
I always forget to change my earrings, it just slips my mind. I think having something striking like the Audrey (R) or Luxathon (L) drop earrings around will jog my memory. Yes, I am trying to justify my forecasted spending…
You can purchase Mimco from selected Woolworths stores as well as the Woolworths online store.
