Not pregnant? Don’t skip past this post just yet, as far as I’m concerned, these products can be used by anyone!
If you aren’t familiar with Mama Mio as a brand, let me give you some background: Mama Mio was created by 4 women based on purely selfish needs – when they were pregnant, they couldn’t find anything to help them with the skin challenges that come along with it, never mind after pregnancy. They wanted to create products that were safe to use during pregnancy, didn’t contain any nasties (parabens, petrolatum, synthetic fragrance and colourants, xenoestrogens, PEGs, phthalates and glycols) but would still calm, nourish, elasticise and protect the skin. And the cherry on the top: Mama Mio doesn’t test on animals!
When I received these two products, I dug into them immediately – this was my first time using anything from Mama Mio and I was excited! I love the bright, fun packaging and both of these products smell amazing. I had very high hopes…
Gorgeous Glow Facial Wash (R535 for 100ml): It’s safe to say that pregnancy brings along a whole bunch of hormones which can cause your skin to go completely mental. But there are other times in life that our hormones play the yoyo game like menopause and even puberty. The Gorgeous Glow Facial Wash is so gentle and is specifically designed to deal with confused, crazy skin. It contains green tea leaf extract to combat dry skin as well as coconut derivatives to cleanse and omega oils to soften and give the skin back its radiance. I love that this cleanser foams up when mixed with water, it feels like it’s really giving my skin a good, deep cleanse and it smells fab to boot, a lovely essential oil fragrance that isn’t too overpowering. I’m fortunate that I don’t really suffer from break-outs but I’m always scared that a new product won’t agree with my skin and will leave it’s mark. After about two weeks of using the Gorgeous Glow Facial Wash I can happily say that my skin is exactly that: gorgeous and glowing, and not in the sweaty, pregnancy way. It’s smooth and hydrated even though I have been ridiculously bad with my water intake recently. In fact I’ve even had a few people comment on how good my skin is looking.
Lucky Legs Cooling Leg Gel (R495 for 100ml): I’m just going to say it, it’s been one helluva hot summer here in Joburg! Between the heat and having a bun in the oven, I don’t know how all the preggy gals have coped. I’ve been really lucky and haven’t suffered at all from swollen legs and feet, but being the busy bee that I am, after a day spent running around, my legs are exhausted – from the tips of my toes to the tops of my (ever expanding) thighs. Lucky Legs is infused with tangerine and refreshing spearmint to help refresh tired and swollen legs as well as calming lavender and chamomile. I literally slap this product on three times a day, especially now that I’m in my last trimester and Hagrid feels like she weighs about 20kg. I’ve also started to apply some to my sore lower back after a day sitting at my laptop. For me personally, I have always had a bit of a niggly lower back and so I am definitely going to keep a bottle of this magic potion around the house, even when I’m not pregnant.
Going to be tweeting all my love! Love to win!
Retweeting all the way 🙂 Still suffering from puffy legs and feet 1 year after my baby’s birth, I have been eyeing that Lucky Legs for a while now plus winning would be a great reason for my hubby to rub my feet and legs everyday. I can have my normal legs and feet back plus score a massage, win win xxx ★★★
Lovely products, I used the tummy butter when I was pregnant – best ever! Would love to try these!
