Quick Beauty Reviews

Oh my word, what is this?! A beauty post?! I know guys, it’s been ages since I’ve done one but I’m really amped for my first quick beauty reviews blog post. Kelli Clifton (one of the best beauty bloggers around) does them quite often over on her Instagram and they’re great – quick, concise and gives you all the info that you need without trailing on for days. So without further ado, let’s get into it!

Bioderma Atoderm Ultra Soothing Balm: Sure, we’re basically seeing the back end of the dry Jozi winters but if you suffer from super dry and irritated skin all year round, you definitely want to get your hands on a bottle of this! I thought that it would be super thick and greasy but it absolutely isn’t; it’s definitely not a lotion but it absorbs really well into the skin. Dan used this a lot during winter and it really helped and I often use it after shaving and my skin never gets irritated. Contains Bioderma’s patented skin barrier therapy and is safe for the whole family to use, including babies.

Bioderma Atoderm SOS Spray: This is a really interesting product and I wasn’t sure how I would use it but turns out it’s amazing for kids simply because it’s so quick and easy. Aria does not want to stand still to be lathered in cream in the morning and so this is just such a dream to quickly spritz on. Since she’s already swimming, it’s also been really great to spray on her once she’s jumped out of the pool; both salt and cholrinated pools dry her skin out big time. This could also be fab for your gym bag. Contains Bioderma’s skin relief technology and is safe for the whole family, including babies.

Bioderma Atoderm Ultra Repair hand cream: Clearly I have a thing for the Atoderm range! This hand cream is actually such a winner; I used it every night religiously (it’s a bit too thick for me personally for during the day) and my hands and cuticles felt really nourished all winter long.

Sorbet Nourishing Body Scrub: Look, I’ll be honest, I have not been overly impressed with Sorbet products in the past; they just never really excited me or gave me the result that I was after so I really wasn’t expecting much from this body scrub, but it suprised me big time! The fragrance is what I would describe as “tutti-fruity”, not something I would go for everyday but it’s perfect for a body scrub that I use twice a week. In terms of how effective it is, I thought that it was great – I definitely felt like it gave my body a great exfoliation and my skin didn’t feel stripped or dehydrated afterwards.

Aloe Unique Aloe and Honey Gel Mask: If you’re spending huge amounts of cash of hydrating face masks, you’re going to be thrilled that I told you about this product. Guys, it’s so effective and so affordable, I was blown away when I tried it a year or so again and I have converted so many of my friends. I’ve got a longer more in depth review over here.

Loreal Botanicals Rose and Geranium Shampoo and Conditioner: I’m not crazy fussy about what products I use on my hair, I hardly ever notice a difference if I’m honest. When I received this range from Loreal, I was keen to try it out but didn’t expect much. Well, I will never use Dan’s cheap and cheerful 2-in-1 ever again, the Botanicals launch is out of this world. The rose and geranium range is for dull and coloured hair and I can honestly say that my hair looks a lot healthier and feels incredible. It hasn’t made my hair any more oily so I still only wash it once a week. I’ve had a few friends that have also been using this range and are also completely in love. Also, the range is vegan and the shampoo is silicone free!

Lancome Advanced Genefique: I went to the launch of the new and improved Lancome Genefique a few weeks ago and I was really impressed. It’s an absolute cult skincare product now with the added benefit of pre and probiotics to their patented complex, Genefique acts full force on the 10 key signs of youth, including skin texture, resiliency, elasticity, firmness, sagginess, fine lines, wrinkles, radiance, clarity, and skin tone. The serum itself is super lightweight, refreshing and my skin literally drank it in within seconds. Lancome says that you should feel a difference in your skin within 7 days and I absolutely could; my skin hasn’t felt this good in a long time – hydrated, radiant and just happy. I am definitely a convert. When this bottle is finished, I am 100% going to get my hands on another.

Lancome Grandiose mascara: This is one of my ride or die mascaras, I always have one in my make up stash. I’m quite fussy when it comes to my mascara and Grandiose gives me the perfect combination of separation, pigment and thickness. I have also found that it hardly transfers to my lids which is a huge advantage as I tend to have quite oily eyelids. If you’re looking for a new mascara, this is definitely one to try.

Maybelline Colossal Volum’ Express mascara: Do I love it as much as I love my Grandiose? No. But this mascara from Maybelline has been on high rotation over the last few months when I’ve been having concealer and mascara day, which if I’m honest has been 5/7 days recently. It really does separate the lashes well and coats them in a pitch black formula. It definitely adds some volume but not as much as I would want for a night out or event. Perfect for every day wear though.

Maybelline Tattoo Brow Waterproof Gel: This product really intrigued me so I was chuffed when I was given one. Long story short, I love it. It really slicks your brows into place and gives them some texture while still looking natural. The gels are tinted so you can darken up your brows which is great for when your brow tint starts to wear off but I have found that it definitely works better if your brows are shaped. I tried it on my crazy unruly brows first and hated it. I tried again after I had had them tidied up and it worked much better. I reckon I’ll buy another one when this one has seen better days.

L.A. Girl Pro.conceal HD concealer: Like I mentioned, I’ve been having a lot of “concealer and mascara” days, just keeping it fresh and natural… but still hiding a few imperfections. This concealer from L.A. Girl has been a go to on many of those days. It’s not new to the market but I recently rediscovered it when I was doing a clear out. It covers really well and I find that it brightens my under eye area nicely too. A pleasure to blend and easy on the wallet.

I’ve linked all the products that are highlighted pink so that you can shop online – yay! Tell me, what has been your go to beauty product (or products!) this month?
