Our little Aria Rae turned a whole 6 months old yesterday and so I thought that I would give you and update! Now, this might not seem like a significant milestone, but it really is a biggie for me. We kept a baby alive for half a year – woohoo! Pretty impressive if you consider the fact that I had never even done any babysitting before having my own child…
Aria is doing so well and we honestly couldn’t be more chuffed. There have been some difficult times which you can read about over here and here but that’s all part of the journey right?
I started Aria on solids at 16 weeks and let me tell you, she loves her food. She eats pretty much anything but she especially loves avo and chicken. She isn’t too keen on eggs but will tolerate them if she has to. I’m going to do a full post on solids soon so keep an eye out for that.
A really exciting development is that she is sitting by herself! She started at 5 months and now sits beautifully! To encourage crawling we put one of her toys just out of her reach when she’s on her tummy. This little monkey’s legs never stop moving so when she becomes mobile we are in trouble!
In terms of other milestones, she is hitting them bang on. When she drops things, she looks to see where they have fallen and she has become obsessed with her feet. She often manages to get all of her toes into her mouth, special child… She has also started to pull on my hair and Dan’s beard (so painful!) and loves grabbing onto our faces with her squidgy little hands.
She is sleeping like an angel and I really and truly do believe in the sleep tips and tricks I shared here. Every now and then she wakes up and about 4am, but we just pop the dummy back in and she falls right back to sleep. I think in a few weeks time though we are going to have some sleepless nights – our paed told us yesterday that there is a tooth that is so close to coming through. Wish us luck!
Often Dan and I say that we miss our tiny little baby who loved to cuddle (Aria is not interested in cuddling anymore, she just wants to explore) but when I think is my favourite age so far. She has such a little personality and when she sees me and flashes her big, gummy smile, my heart just melts.
