I am so excited to share our documentary style fresh 48 photoshoot with you.
Maia Elle Booyens was born at 13h15 on Wednesday 13 February 2019; a gorgeous 50cm, 3.3kg bundle of joy. She is the final piece to our puzzle and I am so glad that despite our initial hesitations (you just can’t predict how the day is going to play out), we went ahead with Earth to Ali (who also did my maternity shoot) and our fresh 48 photoshoot. When Dan and I decided that we would do a fresh 48 photoshoot, we really wanted it to be completely natural, no posing, no frills; we just wanted our new family of 4 to be captured, and most importantly, Aria meeting her baby sister for the first time.
These photo’s were taken when Maia was about 2 hours old which worked out perfectly for us. Dan and I had had some special time alone with her, we had gotten the first feed in and we were all feeling really relaxed. We didn’t allow any visitors, we wanted Aria to be the first person to meet Maia and I am so glad that we did. The absolute pride and excitement on her little face is enough to make me emotional (which you know never happens!).
Something else that really made the afternoon special for Aria and I definitely think has had a long term effect on her is the gift swap that we did. A few weeks before Maia arrived, we explained to her that her baby sister had a gift that she was going to give to her in hospital and would she like to get a gift to give back? She was ridiculously excited and chose two Lily n Jack bunnies just like the ones that she has. Aria’s gift was a My Little Pony set, her current obsession and she was thrilled when she opened it. Two weeks later she still talks about how her baby Maia gave her a new pony and how she gave Maia the best bunnies.
Ali really outdid herself with our fresh 48 photoshoot, she was so quick (maximum 30 minutes), not at all intrusive (we barely knew she was there) and we received over 90 images that we will hold so dear for many many years to come. I just know that the girls are going to love looking at them when they are older – so precious!
