July Book Club and Giveaway with Pan MacMillan

Isn’t winter just the best time for reading? You can snuggle up with a cuppa and just disappear into your book. I’ve got two new books to chat about in my July book club (both available from Pan Macmillan) plus a stunning giveaway perfect for doing just that!

First Explorers Dinosaurs is a stunning new board book with push, pull and slide mechanisms as well as awesome illustrations by Chorkung. The story itself is simple and interactive, prompting your little one to find certain dinosaurs on each page. If you have a toddler around Aria’s age they will appreciate the bright colours and the push, pull and slide mechanisms, and if you have a slightly older kiddie, around preschool age, they will love learning about prehistoric animals and where they lived.

The book itself feels really sturdy to me, and so do the mechanisms so I don’t think Aria will be able to destroy it too easily, although I probably shouldn’t test her on that.

The second book is a finger maze book called Follow Me by Roger Priddy. This is a really sweet board book in which you help a little fox and a few other animal friends through different mazes. There are seven different mazes including the ocean and a forest all with beautiful illustrations as well as prompts and questions, making the book interactive. The actual pathways of the mazes are sunken into the book and so your child can easily follow them with their finger until they find the right way.

Although Aria hasn’t quite figured out the concept of a maze, she really enjoys pointing at the animals and feeling the different textures. This really is a gorgeous book for a large age range and if your kiddie loves animals like mine does, they will definitely enjoy it!

Both the books that I reviewed last month and this month are from Pan Macmillan, one of South Africa’s largest publishers. If you are an avid bookworm, definitely head over to their site as they really have a wide range of books on offer, from adult fiction to lifestyle and everything in between.

Pan Macmillan has also been generous enough to include a giveaway today. The prize will consist of the two books I have reviewed today as well as Grey Rabbit’s 123 and Grey Rabbit’s ABC both by Alan Baker.
