How to style your shelves featuring Lou Lou and Luc

I’ve already started planning Aria’s big girl room, seems a bit crazy doesn’t it? It feels like just a few weeks ago that we were putting together her nursery.

Anyway, her new room will be quite similar to her current room in terms of colour (lots of greys and soft rose pink) but with a few big girl touches, one of them being the Lou Lou and Luc swing shelf.

The Lou Lou and Luc swing shelf sure is pretty but I’ve found some really functional uses for it as well in Aria’s current room as well as her playroom. It’s kinda just been moved from area to area but at only R185 I am definitely keen to buy another one… or two, they’re just so versatile! Lou Lou and Luc is run by Melanie, a mama herself who knows how much we love our kiddies rooms to look good, but also be functional, and this is how the swing shelf came about. Each shelf is handmade to order and there are a bunch of colours that you can choose for the beads at the top. I was really suprised at how stable the shelf is, it can hold a ton of stuff and doesn’t swing to and fro (despite the name!) while everything balances precariously. The finishes are also really well done and super high quality, which is why I still can’t believe the brilliant price point of the Lou Lou and Luc swing shelf, I had to read my email twice!

So how exactly have we been using our swing shelf, well the first way is to store some of Aria’s art supplies. I love that the paper fits on as well and that it can be hung just out of her reach. Plus, by keeping her crayons and paint out in the open as opposed to in the cupboard, we end up doing art a lot more.

Another way that we used the Lou Lou and Luc shelf was as a part of our nappy changing station. Everything that we use to change Aria’s nappy fits perfectly onto this shelf and it was hung perfectly within reach for Dan and I. This is a great way to save space if you are working with a small room like we have.

By now you know how much Aria loves books, to the point where I have run out of space to store and display them and I really don’t like the idea of them sitting inside of a cupboard. The Lou Lou and Luc shelf is perfect for stacking some books, especially if you have a few that you’d like to keep out of your toddlers destructive hands, Aria has torn more book pages than I would like to admit *hangs head in shame*.

Lou Lou and Luc also makes a few other products, like these two shelves. The small accessory ladder shelf is R165 and the two tier ladder shelf is R265. Both would be perfect in any kiddies room but to be honest, I think they would look lovely in an entrance hall or lounge and the small accessory ladder shelf would be perfect to store jewellery in your own bedroom.

Although there isn’t a website just yet, you can browse Lou Lou and Luc’s other products on their Facebook or Instagram pages. If you would like to order, you can simply pop Melanie a DM or email info@loulouandluc.co.za.
