When the Fiat 500 rolled onto my driveway a week or so ago I was so excited! It looked super cute and so snazzy, I couldn’t wait to take it for a spin! When I showed you all on Instagram about my new set of wheels for the week most of you also fell in love with it instantly, I mean, have you seen how freaking cheeky looking it is?!
First off, how fun is the interior of the car? So retro and totally different to other cars in it’s category. Even though it is quite a compact car, you have everything that you need, including aircon, bluetooth for your cellphone, radio controls on the steering wheel and automatic window controls. The seats are really comfy and when I told my sister to sit in the back to test it out, she didn’t complain about a lack of leg room.
Let me tell you, I really clocked up some miles on this baby and I had so much fun doing it. With a 900CC engine with turbo, you probably wouldn’t expect much, I certainly didn’t but wow, the Fiat 500 definitely proved me wrong! I flew down the freeway (in a responsible way of course) without the car shaking and shuddering like smaller cars tend to do when you start to go at a bit of a speed and although this is definitely a loud car, it only took me a few minutes to get used to it’s roar.
Something else that Dan pointed out to me was the tyres. Again, on smaller cars you tend to get stuck with “marie biscuit” tyres which aren’t always the most safe on the road, especially when the rainy season hits. The Fiat 500 has much sturdier tyres that come with 14″ steel wheel covers.
And while we are on the topic of safety, lets chat about some of the really impressive safety features of the Fiat 500. As someone who drives a lot and mostly on the freeways, it’s so important to me that the car I drive is as safe as possible. The Fiat 500 definitely delivers in that aspect, despite the fact that it is a smaller car.
- There are seven, yes, seven airbags in the car
- ABS and EBD braking helps you to retain more control over your car if you are even in the situation where you need to slam on the brakes, even if you are in less than perfect r0ad conditions.
- If you’re prone to rolling back, you’ll love the ESC and Hill Holder feature. It took me a little while to get used to it, but once you do, hill starts are a thing of the past (wish I had had this when I did my drivers license test!)
Something else that I think is pretty important to most of us these days is fuel consumption, a trip to the petrol station basically bankrupts you each time that you go. I was really impressed with how fuel efficient the Fiat 500 is. I got down to 5.4 litres per 100 km with urban driving. I don’t know much about cars, but I do know that this is pretty good if you’re looking to save a few bucks on petrol.
All in all, this little car really, really blew my mind. It’s economical, it has decent space considering it’s size, it’s so safe and it’s got a really great sound system. The Fiat 500 is the perfect car for an on-the-go gal; you’ll look fab cruising around! I’m sure by now that you are itching to take this baby for a test drive! Just pop Penta Motor Group a mail or give them a call; they are so friendly and will definitely be able to help you out.
Oh, before I go, the Fiat 500 comes in so many cute colours, which one would you choose?
