These festive gifts for classmates are simple to put together, will bring a smile to the kiddos faces and won’t cost a bomb. Basically an all round win. Look, making a little gift for everyone in your childs class is over-kill and absolutely not necessary… But if you’re like me and enjoy little DIY projects then this is totally up your alley.
Bags of Reindeer Poop
Last year the girls and I made little bags of reindeer poop for all their classmates and it was such a win. Here’s how to do it:
These are so incredibly easy to make and a total hit with the kids! All you need to do is put some malt chocolate balls into a plastic sandwich bag. To seal it, use this printable that I created (free to download of course). Fold it in half, place it over the opening of the sandwich bag and then staple in place. Make sure to write your childs name as well as their friends name on printable as well.
That’s it, you’re done, how crazy easy is that?!
Build Your Own Christmas Tree
This year I decided to do “Build Your Own Christmas Tree” with homemade play dough and whatever craft bits and pieces I could find.
These take slightly more prep than the bag of reindeer poop but it’s totally worth it especially because it it really is such an affordable option.
If you’d like to skip all the prep, you can simply buy green play dough but it really isn’t difficult to make at home. I always use my moms recipe which is basically fool proof and if you keep it in a sealed container in the fridge, it lasts for ages. Here’s how to whip up a batch:
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
2 cups water
2 tablespoons cooking oil
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
Food colouring/powder paint
Cook all together in a pot over medium heat making sure to stir continuously until you have the desired play dough consistency
Now all you need to do is put it all together. Take some play dough, roll it up in a ball and wrap it in some cling wrap. Pop that, some craft bits and pieces and a sting of tinsel (the skinny tinsel works best) into a sandwich bag. Use this printable that I created, write the applicable names on it and then fold it in half, place over the opening of the sandwich bag and staple closed.
Et voila, your classmate gifts are complete!
Like I mentioned at the beginning of this blog post, making festive gifts for classmates is absolutely not necessary but you could use these as gifts for friends kids, stocking fillers or even for advent calendar pockets (see how we made ours and other filler ideas).
Let me know in the comments which one you’re going to make and don’t forget to tag me in a picture when you do!
I think I should do these for the boys classes!
Love these ideas, definitely making both, super easy and affordable, thank you for sharing
Yay,I’m so glad you found them helpful! Have fun creating them 🙂
