I ran a little poll on Twitter a few days ago and it seems the you are all very keen to see the skincare products I currently swear by. I thought about telling you about them all in one post, but then we would be here for a very long time and so I decided to split things up into different sections over the next couple of weeks. Today is very clearly, all about my favourite cleansers, and a nifty little cleansing tool!
If you want to read up more about the importance of cleansing and why I am such a big believer in the double cleanse, you can quickly hop on over to this blog post and find out. I still absolutely adore my beloved Body Shop Chamomile Silky Cleansing Oil and because I’ve already spoken about it before, I didn’t think that I needed to go over it again.
However, there are three new stars in my cleansing line up that I am just itching to chat about, so let’s jump right in, shall we?
Don’t you just love it when a product doesn’t work for a friend and they generously pass it along to you? Natalie’s skin just did not agree with the Kiehl’s Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash and I was only too happy to take it off her hands. This is a gel cleanser with a difference, it has a much thicker consistency that has almost a creamy feel to it. Because of this different texture, it feels a lot more luxurious than your average gel cleanser and so I take my time massaging it into my face every night and then remove it with a warm facecloth. It cleanses beautifully and my skin doesn’t feel tight or stripped of hydration afterwards. As the name suggests, this cleanser has calendula as one of it’s main ingredients. This derivative of the marigold plant is excellent to soothe a sensitive or delicate skin and is also great for an oily skin type.
Next up is the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Cleanser. When I went to the launch of the Neutrogena Hydro Boost range last year, I was really excited to try this out, and it did not disappoint. This is my go to cleanser for the morning, or after a work out. It is a gel cleanser but made specifically for those that suffer from dehydrated skin. Unlike the Kiehl’s cleanser I just raved about, this winner from Neutrogena has a much more lightweight texture to it, and even though it foams, my skin is left feeling clean, plump, and ready for the day. One of the key ingredients in this cleansing is the unique, patented cleansing technology that includes my BFF, hyaluronic acid. I mean, was there any way that I wasn’t going to love this cleanser. A little goes a long way, and because this is is so affordable, it’s just common sense to pop one into your basket the next time you are at the shops.
Now for a nifty little gadget that has really taken my cleansing to the next level; the Clarisonic Mia 2. I was lucky enough to be sent one by Beauty Bulletin last year and I haven’t stopped using it since. The Clarisonic Mia 2 is a sonic cleansing brush that helps you to acheive skin that looks and feels firmer, exudes radiance and has a wonderfully smooth texture. The set of brushes gently cleanse the skin without damaging it and you have the choice of two speeds; one for when your skin is feeling a bit more sensitive and a different one for more of a “power cleanse”. The device has a timer and it beeps when you need to move onto the next area, meaning that you can be sure you are cleaning your skin properly. I can honestly say that when I haven’t been using my Clarisonic, my skin doesn’t feel as smooth as it normally does and so I make a point of using it ever single morning. A mistake that quite a few people make is thinking that this replaces an exfoliator, so just remember that it doesn’t. If you’re on the hunt for a new exfoliator however, keep your eye’s peeled next week where I will be giving one of my new favourite products away!

Yay – just bought Neutrogena yesterday as my skin has taken a beating this winter. Even more excited to try it now.
Oh goodness I’ve been yearning for a Clarisonic since FOREVER!

Oooh I love both of these. The Calendula toner is equally lovely. You should also try the new Kiehl’s Cleansing Oil – soooo good!
