best of 2015 : body & hair

Welcome to the second installment of Best of 2015! If you missed out on the first one (it was a goodie!), click here to read it. Today I’m going to chat about all of the body and haircare products that made me go gaga this year, let’s get straight to it shall we?

Loccitane Almond Shower Oil: Oh man, I cannot rave about this stuff enough! It smells incredible and gives your bath or shower that much needed pop of luxury. Whenever I use this, my skin is left feeling so smooth and silky, and not just for that night, my skin is still in tip top shape the next morning. The scent also lingers for forever which is such a bonus as I find the fragrances from scented shower oils or gels are often short lived. If I want to get that rich girl feeling, I use this as my shaving medium for my legs – the difference is incredible and it really nourishes the skin so you aren’t left with scaly, dry pins.

LUSH Rose Jam Bubbleroon: I mean, you knew that there would be a decent amount of LUSH in these Best of 2015 posts, I am a self confessed addict. This is my favourite LUSH product to date – whenever I use it I feel like I’m bathing in a bed of roses.  There are a whack of amazing ingredients in this macaroon looking baby such as lemon, rose and geranium oil, coconut oil and shea butter. When you crumble this bubbleroon under running water, your whole bathroom is filled with the most intoxicating scent and your bath gets jam packed with bubbles – such a treat.

The Body Shop Wild Argon Oil Rough Body Scrub: It’s no secret, I love body scrubs and exfoliators and the more abrasive the better. The words rough body scrub immediately grabbed my attention when I was browsing in The Body Shop and I am so glad that I picked this up. It has a goopy gel consistency in the tub but once you start using it on your skin it really gets to work! If you have sensitive skin, go slowly as this is definitely more abrasive than the other exfoliators on the shelf at The Body Shop. It really stimulates the skin (so target those problem areas!) and  my skin drinks up that argon oil! I like to use this before I shave to lift the hairs up, giving me a closer shave.

LUSH Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly: I’m going to be honest, the main reason this made the list is because it smells so good! It’s sweet and fruity and when I use it, it puts me in a good mood immediately. There are a two ways that you can use a shower jelly: you can break a piece off, pop it into your shower loofah and as you use it, it will start to foam up. The second way you can use it (and the way that I prefer to) is to just take the whole thing out of the tub and use it as is. You can even use shower jellies on your hair! I havent been able to find Sweetie Pie on the LUSH online store but I definitely saw some in their Rosebank branch a week or so back. Thanks to Chicara from Lipgloss Kisses for getting me onto this!

Dermalogica Buffing Cloth: If you watched the empties video I did with Natalie from Luna Lacey, you will already know about this magic cloth (watch the video here if you haven’t seen it yet).  Made from an abrasive material, it is perfect to keep in the shower or gym bag to get to those hard to reach places like your back that we tend to neglect. All you have to do is add some of your favourite shower gel or cream and get exfoliating! It’s great for travelling as it dries so quickly and when you get home you can chuck it in the washing machine to keep it hygienic.

LUSH Damaged Hot Oil Treatment: If you have hair that looks and feels like straw, listen up, this new product from LUSH is pretty darn awesome! This hot oil treatment is full of exactly that – oils. Avocado, almond and extra virgin olive oils to be exact, they really get to work on your hair, nourishing it back to it’s former glory. This is a great product to keep stock of if you have colour treated hair or if you just have dehydrated hair in general. You will see a difference after one application but as with most things, consistency is key so try to do one every 10-14 days if possible.

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Conditioner: My hair is extremely dry, to the point that it rarely looks oily, even after 12 days on no washing (yes, I have pushed it that far, not one drop of oil). And so a good conditioner is really important to me. Irina from I’ll Take It All raved about this particular conditioner one day while we were out shopping (boy, can that girl shop!) and so I made a mental note to go and buy one. Gee whiz, this is a miracle in a bottle and affordable as well! It is enriched with 6 micro flower oils which leave my hair feeling soft and silky. I also find that my hair has been a lot less frizzy since using this which is an added bonus. And of course, it smells diiiiiivine!

Sebastian Penetraitt Deep Strengthening Repair Hair Mask:  This is such a treat product for my hair and oh boy does it work! This product is made specifically for those that have damaged hair from chemically treating it or from heat damage. I find it also makes my hair look less dull and bland – it literally gives it a new lease of life. It’s quite a rich mask so if you have oily hair, don’t overdo it. Because my hair is as dry as a bone, I slather it on from root to tip and leave it on for 2-3 minutes before rising. It really is a wonder product and so if you feel like a bit of a splurge, this is the product to do it with!

LUSH Daddy-O Shampoo: I’ve spoken about this shampoo before over here, but I had to mention it again. It keeps blondes blonde, not yellow and brassy and will also be great for those rocking the grey tresses. It smells delicious and doesn’t strip the hair at all. It is also infused with fresh lemon and lime juice to make your locks shine.

I should have the last installment of Best of 2015 up by the end of the week and this one is all about make-up so you know you’re going to love it! As always, let me know if you loved this post or any hair and body products that you fell in love with this year in the comments section, hearing from you literally makes my day!
