LUSH Christmas collection

When the LUSH Christmas collection drops, that’s when I know that my favourite time of the year is just around the corner. Two weeks ago I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at this years Christmas goodies and even got sent home with a few!

It was so incredible to meet Rowena Bird, the co-founder of LUSH and learn more about how passionate LUSH are about being cruelty free, supporting women and sustainable farming. Three facts I didn’t know:

  1. 35% of LUSH products are served “naked” (without packaging) so that you can be sure you aren’t contributing to the land fills unnecessarily.
  2. The solid shampoo bars last up to 80 washes!
  3. Their rose absolute purchases supports school projects in Turkey. In 2009 LUSH bought 600kg of rose absolute, raising $20,500 for the charity.

Rose Jam Shower Gel (R95): I am a complete sucker for anything rose scented, and the Turkish rose mixed with vanilla in this shower gel gives off the most incredible scent. The rose fragrance isn’t synthetic at all, in fact, they are hand picked rose petals in Senir, Turkey at dawn when they are their most fragranced. Last year Rose Jam was sold our by the time I woke up and smelt the, erm, roses so make sure to get your hands on some!

Snow Fairy Body Conditioner (R130/100g R245/225g): Last year my mom gave me a bottle of the Snow Fairy Shower Gel. If you’re into very sweet scents then you need a bottle of this as well as a tub of the body conditioner. Infused with candy floss (yes, you read correctly, candy floss) this body conditioner has become a staple in my shower. After I jump into the shower, I plaster Snow Fairy all over my body. While it works it’s magic, I wash my face and sometimes my hair (if I’m feeling energetic). I rinse it off just before I’m about to get out of the shower. I’m left with soft skin that smells like a candy store and is as soft as a baby’s bottom. I think that this is my favourite product of the ones that I picked out of the Lush Christmas collection.

Sleepy Body Lotion (R125/95g R245/225g): This was supposed to be for Aria but it hasn’t made it into her room yet… and I’m not sure that it will! I am not usually a fan of lavendar, in fact I stay away from it completely. But combined with Organic Fair Trade cocoa butter, illipe butter and white almond oil, I don’t find this body lotion’s scent even slightly offensive. The fact that it isn’t heavily fragranced is also an absolute win in my books, there’s nothing worse than hopping into bed smelling like you have doused yourself. In saying that though, in the morning, there is still a subtle scent of Sleepy on my skin which is really lovely. It’s safe to say that Aria probably doesn’t stand a chance of trying this out.

Bûche de Noël Cleansing Roll (R95): It was really cool to see this being made right in front of our eyes. This cleanser contains kaolin which draws out impurities, almond to gently exfoliate and even a dash of brandy! Basically, it smells like Christmas. I didn’t think that I would be a big fan of this product and it took a while for me to find my groove with it. I find that if I use it after I cleanse, it leaves my skin feeling soft and nourished.

Mistletoe Bath Bomb (R69,50): I picked this jasmine and ylang-ylang infused bath bomb for my sister, here’s what she had to say about it, “As is ‘bombs’, it releases an amazing smell. Not too powerful that you feel nauseas, just enough and it lasts as you soak. Your bath has a definite oil/moisturising feeling without it being slippery. A simple but relaxing experience”

So those are the products that I picked out and tested from the Lush Christmas collection, but here’s a list of what else is available both online and in store. A lot of the products have been sold out online already, but LUSH has confirmed that they are getting more shipments of products in between and now and Christmas so keep checking the website!
